Lake of Dreams “Orbs” Feature
At the beginning of 2009, some new residents arrived at the Lake of Dreams. Four times an evening, a luminous blue orb breaks the surface, followed shortly by the appearance of an identically sized glowing red orb on the other side of the water. As a ballet-like score plays over the system, the orbs discover each other, dance a poetic pas de deux, apparently fall in love…
The Orbs were created by high-caliber creative visionaries including lighting designer Patrick Woodroffe (tours by the Rolling Stones, the Police), director/choreographer Kenny Ortega (High School Musical, Dirty Dancing), film and video artist Karin Fong of Imaginary Forces, and composer Michael Giacchino (Ratatouille, Lost).
Steve Wynn called Ortega, who had thought of the previous shows for the Lake of Dreams, and came up with the courtship scenario for the orbs that gave them their lifelike quality. Giacchino created a ballet-like score, and the stage was set for romance and a surprise ending.
