It follows the life of the eccentric and funny Ally McBeal (played by Calista Flockhart), a Boston lawyer, who has to work with her ex-lover (played by Gil Bellows) and his wife (played by Courtney Thorne-Smith). Ally searches for love and fulfillment in her life throughout the show, using vivid, dramatic fantasy sequences; particularly notable is the "dancing baby".
